Scenario Planning & Foresight Conference

A key element of this project is connecting with different disciplines to learn from and integrate the latest in experimental testing and AI training designs. One of the best ways to do this is through conferences, symposia, and workshops. 

The first stop on the journey was the 4th International Scenario Planning & Foresight conference, held at the beautiful University of Warwick campus (UK). The university just happens to be our PI’s alma mater, as well. 

This year’s delegates were some of the greatest minds in scenario planning & foresight. Alongside them were a brilliant group of up-and-coming researchers who are designing and testing the latest in digital integrations. 

The focus of our presentation was to gather feedback from the world’s experts on the concept of scenario thinking, and how we propose testing it as a collection of integrated higher-order cognitions. In response, a lively 2-day discussion took place that brought in researchers, theorists, practitioners, economists, and AI developers, to name just a few. Our project has been enriched by our time with everyone, and our next steps are already proving to be exciting ones.

Some of our goals with this project are to:

• Clarify the roll of humans and AI in the strategic space
• Establish a spectrum of values to scenario planning and strategy methods
• Recommend how organisations integrate AI technologies; Particularly human-AI interaction

This project is set to deliver powerful insights as we break new scientific ground in investigating human-AI collaborations. It is combining cognitive science expertise with foresight theory and intelligent systems, supported by a critical inquiry into mental “offloading”. Together, we are uniquely positioned to provide valuable answers to both the scientific community and industries in ways that have yet to be attempted.
