About this event
Attendees will be introduced to JASP, a user-friendly, open source software for data analysis. This workshop aims to build on the beginner-friendly “JASP: An intuitive, open source, user friendly software for data analysis” and showcase more advanced options of this powerful tool. Topics include, but are not limited to, Bayesian statistics with JASP and the integration with other data analysis softwares. The session will also include plenty of time for hands-on practice and independent exploration and an extended Q&A session.
The workshop will cover:
- Familiarizing with JASP
- Retrieving data from different sources
- Bayesian statistics with JASP: why and how
- Other modules: distributions, visual modelling, R console
- Hands-on practice, independent exploration, and Q&A session
WHO SHOULD ATTEND – All staff and students interested in quantitative analyses and data visualisations. As well, staff members looking for powerful software alternatives to SPSS. No previous experience with the software is required to attend the session.

PREREQUISITE – None. However, this workshop aims to build on the beginner-friendly “JASP: An intuitive, open source, user friendly software for data analysis” held in April 2022.

EXPERT HOST – Marta Mangiarulo, PhD, AFHEA, University of Leicester
Bio – I am a RA and teaching fellow with research interests in judgment, decision making, and reasoning biases. Since 2019, I have worked as a RA in the Judgment and Decision-Making group in the School of Psychology and Vision Sciences at the University of Leicester. Since 2021, I have worked as a Teaching Fellow in the same School, delivering teaching at undergraduate level and undertaking pedagogical research.
ABOUT – The Data Science Workshop (DSW) series brings leaders in industry and higher education from around the world to The Business School’s front door. Workshops will be held throughout 2022 on a variety of topics aimed at advancing staff and student skills in data analytics and data science.

BENEFITS – The DSW series is designed to support Business School students, staff, and modules; However, all ENU members are encouraged to attend, from all schools. Students enrolled in ESP and preparing for their Dissertations (present or future) should take special advantage of the DSW series. Workshop content will have direct influences on students’ module work and research. Professionally, you will leave with specialty resources available only to ENU members, and expert insights that will place you ahead of the curve.
